Once you find an online counselor in Texas, what is the next step? Most of the counselors you find will do an initial consultation, but what are you supposed to ask during that first call?
Questions to ask a Therapist in Texas
When someone is struggling with depression and/or anxiety, it can be difficult to think clearly, so I have created some questions that you could consider during your first call.
Question #1: Do you have experience working with the issues I am dealing with?

Question #2: How long have you been providing counseling and what are your qualifications?
Make sure that your counselor has the licensing credentials to ensure that they are qualified to provide counseling services for you. Licensed counselors in Texas must have a master’s or doctoral degree and must have completed at least 1500 hours of direct, supervised counseling hours.
Question #3: How long will our sessions be and how long will it take for me to feel better?
Most counseling sessions are about 50 minutes long, and it takes about 6 months to begin feeling more normal. The more work you put in outside of counseling sessions, the quicker you will start to feel better. Remember there are 168 hours in a week, and if you only work for 1 hour per week in session, you have 167 hours where you could be sliding.
Question #4: How much does counseling cost and do you take my insurance?
Counseling at Trail Glass Counseling, LLC is $100 per 50-minute session. If you have HMO, you need to find someone on that list for your insurance to pay for counseling sessions if you do not want to pay out of pocket. If you have PPO, I can give you a special receipt to submit to your insurance company so that they can reimburse you if your insurance plan covers counseling. There are a lot of insurance plans, and all of them are different, so I’d recommend that you call your insurance plan and find out what percentage they reimburse. Some insurance companies are fast, while others take a while to get going.
Question #5: Am I charged for cancellations or no-shows?

This ensures that your counseling session is reserved especially for you and no one else can take your spot.
